Modeling in Sydney

Australia

Sydney sits closest to Australia’s national fashion trade calendar. Australian Fashion Week brings designers, buyers, media and model agencies into the city each May, while year-round briefs span editorial, runway, beauty, campaigns, commercial print and screen.

Market

Fashion Week works as a trade platform

AFC Australian Fashion Week ran from 11–15 May 2026, anchored at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia with additional venues across Sydney. The NSW Fashion Sector Strategy explicitly positions Fashion Week as a top-tier Sydney event designed to attract domestic and international buyers and drive commercial outcomes.

That makes the week more than a public runway calendar. It is one of the clearest moments when designers, models, media and buyers occupy the same professional ecosystem.

Local books, international networks

Sydney has management infrastructure that reaches beyond Australia. KULT Australia works within the international Kult Group, while IMG lists Sydney among its six global offices. That does not turn every local booking into international work, but it places global career development unusually close to the domestic market.

Commercial work extends beyond runway

Fashion Week is only one part of Sydney’s market. ICON works across editorial, fashion and commercial print, while Modelbank specialises in film, television, TV commercials and online media and says it accepts applicants aged 15+ without height restrictions. Screen NSW also facilitates production in Sydney and across the state.
