Market
Why the production season matters
Cape Town’s modeling market is closely tied to its production industry. The City identifies October to April as its filming high season, when local and international crews are particularly active.
In 2023/24, Cape Town issued 4,757 filming permits; commercials were the largest individual category with 1,604. Those figures measure production activity, not model-booking volume. They help explain why commercial work has such a visible place in the city.

The Directory currently lists 30 published local organisations: 19 modeling agencies and 11 casting companies. Use it for contacts and application routes; this guide remains the place for market context.
Fashion, commercial, development
The city is not a single-board market. ICE publishes narrow fashion height ranges, while its commercial division, ICE Genetics, works with broader ranges and highlights acting and on-camera skills. Boss and Twenty also describe international partner networks, so Cape Town can function as both a working market and a development base.
Current agency profiles for Leah Risi and Prince G show that local development can connect to representation in other markets without turning the city page into a celebrity list.

Fashion beyond the shoot
The Week of Fashion South Africa returns from 12–17 October 2026, while Cape Town’s clothing and textile economy gives the city a local fashion base beyond visiting productions. Invest Cape Town reports 17,873 formal jobs in the sector in its January 2026 indicators.
